Day 24

Welcome to Day 24 of the 40day180!

What happens to my mind when I memorize the Word and do what it says based on Joshua 1:8 and 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ? What happens when I put the Word of God in my heart according to Matthew 15:18 and Luke 6:45?

If we choose to memorize and do the Word of God, we will be successful and prosperous in all we do (Joshua 1:8). Jeremiah 1:12 says that “God watches over His Word to perform It”. Basically, when we obey the Word of God, He is going to be with us and keep us safe (Psalms 121:7-8). When we choose to memorize the Word of God and apply it to our lives, we will begin to be set free from fear (2 Timothy 1:7), anxiety (Philippians 4:6-7), depression (Matthew 11:28-30), and addictions (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). What we treasure the most (spend the most time doing) is what will fill our hearts (Matthew 6:21). Choose to treasure God and His Word by hiding the Word in your heart (Psalm 119:11).

Matthew 15:1-20

Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked, “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t wash their hands before they eat!” Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’ But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is ‘devoted to God,’ they are not to ‘honor their father or mother’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you: “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’” 10 Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand.11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.” 12 Then the disciples came to him and asked, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this?” 13 He replied, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. 14 Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.” 15 Peter said, “Explain the parable to us.” 16 “Are you still so dull?” Jesus asked them. 17 “Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18 But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20 These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.”

Joshua 1:8 – This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Proverbs 18:21 – Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Psalm 119:9-11 – How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. 10 With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! 11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

  • (Week 1) I choose to seek God first everyday by getting into His Word.

  • (Week 2) I choose to seek God first everyday by getting into His Word. I choose to walk in the plan God has for me by choosing to live the Word of God in every area of my life.

  • (Week 3) I choose to seek God first everyday by getting into His Word. I choose to walk in the plan God has for me by choosing to live the Word of God in every area of my life. I thank You Father that as I choose to obey Your Word, You are protecting me, directing my footsteps according to Your Word, and filling me with Your Holy Spirit.

  • (Week 4) As I continue to renew my mind with the Word of God, I choose to speak life and not death in every situation.
